NUVIA detectors measure the amount of snow in the Alps

We cooperate with the University of Innsbruck, Austria.

NUVIA has successfully delivered a snow amount measuring system to the University of Innsbruck, Austria. The core of this system is a neutron detection module. This module measures cosmic neutrons which penetrate the atmosphere and scatter in the surrounding environment. A very good material for scattering is a hydrogen-containing water (snow). The higher the snowpack, the higher neutron detector response. The system can be used for measuring of integral characteristics of snowpack (height, density) or soil humidity. Owing to high sensitivity of the utilized detector, the system exhibits very good results.
