NUVIA has developed a radon chamber for Montenegro


The NUVIA CZ Radiometric Systems Division has developed and produced a sophisticated radon calibration system for Montenegro. The project was covered by financial support from the International Atomic Energy Agency.

In this country, the radon program is in its infancy - on the other hand, the Czech Republic is the world leader in measuring radon radiation in the air, especially in residential areas. In this project, we used a number of recently developed components, such as special carbon filters or Lukas scintillation chambers, produced by our colleagues from the Detectors Technology Division in Kralupy nad Vltavou. The methodology and procedures of the National Radiation Protection Institute will be used for measurement and calibration.

Part of the comprehensive supply to Podgorica in Montenegro was a very demanding installation and commissioning, including the training of local experts for the use of all supplied systems. This unique NUVIA’s system will be used in Montenegro to measure radon in public buildings and in residential areas later. It also offers a number of options for highly accurate metrological calibration of radiation measurement devices.
