Nuclear Training for Saudi Arabia19.04.2016
Course “Nuclear Training“ for Saudi Arabians took place in Prague from April 04 to April 22, 2016
NUVIA trained a group of experts from Saudi Arabia for the second time. Three weeks long course “Nuclear Training“, taking place in Prague’s hotel Holiday Inn, was attended by 6 Saudi Arabians. The participants were educated predominantly in the radiation safety and emergency preparedness.
The lectures were focused on the fundamentals of atomic and nuclear physics or radiation dosimetry and later on the detection of ionizing radiation, the biological effects of ionizing radiation or the radiation protection. The subjects of the lectures and exercises during the last week of this training were the emergency preparedness, the monitoring of radiation or contamination or the radiation protection of monitoring teams.
The excursions were included in the training; visited were e.g. the Department of Dosimetry and Application of Ionizing Radiation, the Department of Nuclear Chemistry and the Training reactor VR-1 (FNSPE, CTU in Prague). Moreover, the excursions to The National Institute for Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Protection, The National Radiation Protection Institute, Nuclear Physics Institute of the CAS or to our company premises in Kralupy nad Vltavou, where we produce the scintillation detectors, took place.
