On the first day in the frames of the round table called "The actual issues of the Federal Law on Radioactive Waste Management" the representative of NEOLANT company Vladislav Tikhonovskiy made a presentation on "The information support improvement of radioactive waste management system at the enterprises of the State Corporation "Rosatom" in the context of the adoption of the Federal Law from July 11, 2011 "On Radioactive Waste management and amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation» №190-FL. In this report he mentioned the main problems of radioactive waste management in Russia and among them the lack of radwaste characterization including effective equipment.
This year, the International Forum ATOMEXPO was held under the motto ‘World Nuclear Energy: One Year after Fukushima’ in a special period of comprehension of the current state and prospects of the nuclear power, in the period of working out the harmonized national approaches to NPP safety standards. Among the speakers and attendees of the event were the governmental officials, top managers and specialists of SC Rosatom, nuclear industry companies, partner-companies and foreign experts.
The extensive programme and the attendance of 1,300 delegates from 53 countries, including leading experts from the US, Brazil, European, African and South-Asian countries, as well as from the CIS demonstrated the growing trust in nuclear energy and understanding of the need to develop this industry. The objective of the Forum was to uphold international cooperation for peaceful uses of atomic energy and to promote the nuclear industry on the global energy market. Organizing Committee of the Forum was headed by Director General of Rosatom Sergey Kirienko.
The Forum traditionally framed a specialised exhibition and congress on nuclear power development. The exhibition was participated by the Russian nuclear industry enterprises and leading foreign companies, and also current and potential suppliers of equipment and services for the industry, construction companies, IT and consulting firms.
The International Congress was the focal point of the event. The Congress addressed topical issues of further active development of nuclear industry. The Congress speakers and attendees are governmental officials, Rosatom’s heads and specialists, representatives of companies within the industry, partners, and foreign experts.
During Atomexpo there were signed a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding, including those between Rosatom and the Ministry of Science and Technology of Bangladesh, between U1 and "Atomredmetzoloto" companies, between JSC "Rusatom Overseas" and the African Nuclear energy Corporation, as well as intergovernmental agreement on cooperation for NPP construction between Russia and Nigeria.
